New cabinets, countertops and appliances can make an old kitchen look completely new again. But what about a kitchen range hood? Does this need to be replaced along with everything else or even replaced on its own for a new look? When it comes to functional devices in the kitchen, the hood is often overlooked and it really shouldn’t be.

The range hood’s actual purpose is to provide a utilitarian function in the kitchen. A hood is in place to provide ventilation while cooking. This means a good hood pulls unwanted smells and fumes out of a home. It’s meant to be used in everyday cooking, but often only gets turned on when those little “accidents” happen. In addition, a hood also provides extra light while cooking as most come equipped with a light socket or two. Both functions make the hood very important.

Despite its functionality, the hood is one of the most overlooked appliances in the kitchen. No one thinks about the hood until they need it and then it’s generally forgotten shortly thereafter. It’s even overlooked in cleanings and more. This is a shame since a good hood can actually transform the appearance of the kitchen as well.

Hoods come in a variety of shapes, sizes, style and colors. They can be large devices made of metal that really attract the eye with visually pleasing lines. Or they can simply be small hoods meant to blend into the background, matching the colors of a stove.

Before making a decision to completely redo a kitchen, the best thing to do is to access the room. This means carefully looking at what you have in the kitchen, what needs replacing and what goals need to be accomplished.

If everything in the kitchen is functional, but a new look is desired, maybe just some simple updating of the room is in order. This can be as elaborate as replacing cabinets and countertops entirely, or just resurfacing. It could also be a simple process of repainting and replacing some appliances, such as the stove and the hood. A bold, metallic hood with interesting lines can give the room a completely different look.

A kitchen is generally the heart of a home. Having a functional kitchen that looks good and serves its purposes well is important. It should also be a place where you’re comfortable cooking, working and spending good quality time with family.

A new, welcoming look can be an elaborate process, or it can be fairly simple with the updating of some parts of the room. A kitchen range hood is a good item to consider for updating the look. Although most homes have hoods and stoves that match, that’s not always necessary or even advisable design wise.

A well-designed metallic hood can give a kitchen a whole new look and give the room a new lease on life. Or a simple hood meant to blend into the background can serve its purpose without drawing too much attention.

Boosting your metabolism requires faith, self-discipline and a willingness to change. This is because most slow metabolisms are the result of years of bad habits and a reluctance to adopt a healthier life style.

There is no one magic bullet or pill that will automatically boost your metabolism. It takes a slow, steady dedication to following through on each of the following top ten ways to boost your metabolism.

1. Train With Weights – Aerobic exercise is good for you but it is the anaerobic exercise that involves the lifting of weights that is going to transform fatty tissue into fat burning muscle.
This is because muscle tissue is metabolically active tissue. This means that it burns calories even while you are at rest. Thus it stands to reason that the more muscle you have the more calories your body is going to burn.

2. Participate in High Intensity Aerobics – Whenever you perform an aerobic activity such as swimming, dancing or cycling and perform it with the intention of raising your heart rate your body experiences an oxygen deficit.
This causes your metabolism to go into overdrive and eliminate toxins and wastes quickly from your system.

3. Don’t Avoid All Fats – Stay away from saturated fats and eat fats that are rich in omega 3 and omega 6 oils.
Depriving yourself of all fats will cause your metabolism to slow down as your body begins to believe it is starving and goes into fat conservation mode. This makes it difficult for fat cells to be transferred to the bloodstream where they can be used for fueling the muscles.

4. Eat Several Small Meals a Day – Whenever your body is busy digesting, your metabolic rate is raised. Snacking on healthy foods several times a day keeps your metabolism elevated and working efficiently.

5. Stay Away From Refined Foods – The harder your body has to work to process a food, the more your metabolism in raised.
Refined foods are in a sense already partly digested and speed sugars and fats directly into your blood stream. This lowers the metabolism. Whole foods, especially if they are raw, take longer to digest.

6. Eat Low Glycemic Carbohydrates – Low glycemic carbohydrates are ones that take the body longer to metabolize. These include fibrous, slow to digest vegetables such as celery and broccoli and all of the beans in the legume family.

7. Vary Your Overall Calorie Intake – The more you disturb your body’s metabolism by refusing to let it settle in an overall routine the more your metabolism will speed up. Don’t make it your goal to eat exactly 1200 calories a day. Eat 900 one day and 1600 the next.

8. Eat More Protein – Make at least 30% of your daily diet protein. If you do this then your body will utilize 30% of your total caloric intake for the day just to digest the protein.

9. Drink Ice Cold Water – The colder the water is that you drink, the more your body will have to expend calories to raise it to your body temperature. This helps increase your metabolism.

10. Take the Stairs! – Taking the stairs and not the elevator can help boost your metabolism. The same goes for choosing to bike to work rather than driving and parking far away from the store in the mall parking lot.

Remember that when it comes to boosting your metabolism every little bit of extra energy expenditure counts even though it does not seem like much at the time!

A busy kitchen is almost never a clean or organized one. This is especially so in a home that’s also busy with children in and out, parents who work full-time and meals are planned on the fly. Chaos is the general rule of the day. Taking a messy kitchen and turning it into a fun and functional room is not a difficult undertaking, but it’s one that takes a little planning. A hanging pot rack is a great consideration for those who want to free up some cabinet space.

Organizing a kitchen begins first with doing an inventory. One of the best ways to do this is actually to create bigger chaos, at least for a little while, by pulling everything out. Go through your kitchen items and see what you have. Now, decide what you use. If items never get used, they are very worn or they are broken, missing lids and so on, perhaps the garbage is the best place for them.

Carefully go through everything from the pots and pans to the spices and accessories. Be honest in your assessments of what you will use and what will collect dust.

With the items remaining in your kitchen, examine the space you have. Set specific cabinets and drawers for specific items so you can find them easily in the future. A single location for bake ware, for example, makes it a whole lot easier to find those specialty pans when you need them!

Before you start putting everything away, consider what pots and pans get the most use. Do they have hanger holes on the ends? If so, a rack might help you save cabinet space while making the most commonly used pans and pots more easily accessible when you need them.

Hanging pots racks can be found in a number of styles and appearances. When properly installed and stocked, they look fantastic too. What’s even better is these gourmet designer pieces also serve a very functional purpose. Chefs around the world use pot racks because they make it extremely easy to find what they need when they need it. They look good, work well and make the prep process a whole lot easier.

One of the keys to good, gourmet cooking is to have everything that’s necessary for meal preparation within easy reach. Pot racks, smart utensil holders, spice organizers and more can not only help make the kitchen look better, they make the task of cooking a whole lot easier.

Before hanging a pot rack though, be certain to make sure it’s in a location that’s convenient, but not hanging too low to cause injuries. Generally they are placed over islands or sinks. If there’s no space that will work for hanging, consider a wall mounted pot rack instead.

Although they’re meant for pots, many racks also can hold a lot of other important items to make locating them quick and easy. For example, many racks can also accommodate utensils, graters, strainers and so on.

An organized kitchen is one that’s easy to navigate and fun to cook in. A hanging pot rack can go a long way toward making this a reality.

Starting Your Own Home Business – How To Make The Dream A Reality

Working from home is a dream for many – but actually going ahead and starting a home business is very difficult. So what makes so many people want to do it, and why would you ever try such a crazy thing? Here are some common reasons, and some things to consider.

Easily Build Your Great Idea.

It suddenly hit you like a bolt of lightning: you’ve thought of a great business idea. This is perhaps the number one reason that people go into business from home: they’ve come up with something great that they really believe in, but can’t afford to rent any business premises. It does depend on what the business is, but working from home is often ideal in these situations.

Remember, though, that even the best ideas take hard work to become a reality. The kind of ideas that are good for a home-based business are ones that can become at least partly real quickly, and start bringing in an income – you shouldn’t sit at home for a year working on something that’s making you nothing whatsoever.

Making Your Hobby a Job.

Most people have something that they’re really passionate about, and would spend the rest of their life doing if they could, just for the enjoyment of it. Getting paid for doing what you love is obviously appealing – even if you only earn a living wage, it’d be your idea of paradise.

Make sure, though, that you’d be able to take it if you had to make a living from your passion. It’s the things we’re closest to that hurt us the most – think of how you might feel if no-one buys what you’ve made, or if they send it back and with a note saying “what rubbish, I demand a refund!” Can you cope with your hobby becoming commercial?

Tired of Your Boss?

It seems like everyone hates their boss. They try to pretend like they’re your friend, but they’re not fooling anyone, are they? You’re forced to work to pointless deadlines and targets. Anytime you spot a better way of doing something you’re
told that it’s impractical, or, worse, that it’s great but the stupid way of doing things is already ‘established’ and ‘policy’.

What you might not realize is that ‘being your own boss’ requires quite a lot of willpower. If there was no-one to make you get up in the morning and do any work, would you? Your home is supposed to be a place of rest and entertainment – and when it’s full of the equipment and temptation to do anything but work, working there can be hard.

Spending More Time with Your Family.

You feel like all you do is go to work, come home, and then sit around, too tired to do anything fun with your family. If you have children, they seem to be growing up so fast, and you’re missing it all – all because you have to go out and work.

Of course, the flip side here is that you might just end up spending too much time with your family, while you’re trying to work. When everyone knows you’ll be in the house all day, they’ll probably ask you to do all sorts of unimportant things, just because you’re available. It’s hard to say no, and before you know it, you’re doing the job of a full-time ‘housewife’ instead of what you set out to do.

You Don’t Like Wasting Time and Money Commuting.

After all, once you get to the office, what is there anyway? Offices are dreary environments, and terrible to work in – travelling for hours there and back and spending a significant proportion of your wages to do it seems completely pointless (especially if you live in the middle of nowhere). If you could work from home, think of the time you’d save… and time is money, isn’t it?

Don’t be surprised, however, if you start to feel trapped in your home, since you never leave it. Can you find good ways to get away from it all?

But Don’t Be Put Off.

While the list of warnings for working at home might look long, a list of warnings about working in an office would surely be longer. As long as you stay on your guard, you can get all the benefits of working from home without falling into any of the traps.

Have you ever wondered why so much of the Hoodia that is also blended with Green Tea? Although Green Tea is a healthy free radical fighting antioxidant in itself, it is mainly added to Hoodia formulations to help speed weight loss. Usually the individuals marketing these Hoodia and Green Tea Formulas describe the formula as being synergistic. The truth is that Green Tea is added to these supplements for its diuretic effects and so that more money can be charged for less Hoodia if it is “cut” with Green Tea. The caffiene in the Green Tea also causes a generous initial loss of weight due to water shedding from the tissues. This rapid initial weight loss can lead you to believe that you are experiencing “proof that the Hoodia is working.”

However this does not mean that you should avoid hoodia products that have Green Tea in them. Caffeine is added to many products as it facilitates the delivery of many substances to the brain. A good example is Tylenol 3 where caffeine is used to speed the delivery of Tylenol and codeine to the bloodstream to get you out of pain faster. The same can be said of the caffeine that it is used in Hoodia Gordonni and Green Tea weight loss formulas.

The two ingredients you should look for are the green tea with the green tea in a 20:1 ratio to the hoodia. That is what researchers at Phytopharm and other companies have found to be the most effective green tea to hoodia formula for weight loss. Unfortunately green tea is added to weight loss formulas to disguise low quality hoodia or to enable the manufacturer to put less hoodia in the product and lower the overall cost of it. Usually the cheaper the hoodia is, the more it is cut with Green Tea and other ingredients.

Caffeine is not a villain, It is found in more than sixty leaves, seeds and plants including tea leaves, the kola nut, cacao seed and of course the coffee bean. The effects of caffeine on the body include heart and central nervous system stimulation and muscle relaxation. Caffeine also acts as a diuretic (increasing urine production) and increases the secretion of gastric acid in the stomach.

Unfortunately when you go shopping for hoodia, you will notice that it is often combined with other ingredients besides Green Tea or caffeine, even banned herbs such as ephedra (also known as Ma Huang). Absolutely avoid these formulas as you could give yourself cardiac arrest or experience rapid heart beat and keep awake at night..

The fact that buying real hoodia is expensive and you do get what you pay for. It takes six years to grow hoodia from seed to the mature plants and there are very few commercial hoodia farms in the world. This six-year gap between supplier and buyer is what makes pure Hoodia so expensive. The point is that if you are going to spend a lot of money on high quality hoodia then make sure you are getting it in the recommended 20:1 ratio mix with Green Tea or you are wasting your money.
