When looking for bargains in shopping for a vehicle a lot of people choose to buy one from a private owner instead of going to a dealership or car lot. While this can save you a lot of money in many cases it also limits your options if you have problems with the vehicle and private parties are not subject to as stringent regulations like dealers are.

When buying a car from an individual the responsibility for being sure that they vehicle is sound mechanically is totally on you. I highly recommend that you take the vehicle to a mechanic to give it an inspection before you buy. It will be money well spent. If the owner has a problem with this, don’t bother dealing with them. Anyone who is honest will not have a problem.

Another key issue to look out for when buying from a private party is whether or not the vehicle has a lien, which means that someone else actually has claim to the title due to money still being owed on it. If you buy a vehicle unknowingly that still has an open lien you may have to pay of the loan to obtain the title. This is another one of those areas where you have more protection buying from a dealer as they are required by law to ensure there are no encumbrances on vehicles they sell.

Be sure that you are dealing with the actual owner of the vehicle. Check their name against the title of the vehicle as well as their driver’s license. Also be sure to ask for any repair bills and records of maintenance. This is especially crucial for high end vehicles such as Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus where the value of the vehicle is substantially tied to its maintenance record.

Remember that when buying a vehicle from an individual you are taking the risk that you could be buying from someone who has rebuilt a wrecked car, replaced an engine or transmission, or even rolled back the odometer. Usually you can tell if the odometer has been rolled just by looking at the numbers because they will be uneven.

With the recent hurricanes on the Gulf Coast another issue to watch out for is flood damage. Individuals can get away with selling you a flood damaged vehicle where dealers are liable for doing so.
You have to make the decision on whether or not the risks are worth the gain of saving a little money.

Extending the life of you car and keeping it running properly can depend heavily on the experience and ability of the mechanic or technician who regularly works on it for you. Don’t take chances with the health of your vehicle; insist on their being ASE certified. ASE certification comes from the nonprofit organization, National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.

There are nearly 500,000 ASE certified automotive professionals in the industry now with ASE testing and certifying technicians in all of the major areas of auto repair and service. You can find ASE certified technicians as well as parts specialists across the United States in shops from independent garages to huge multi-line dealerships.

The beauty of the ASE certification is that it is certifying the individual technician’s ability not the repair facility in which they are employed. It doesn’t really matter if a repair facility has a good reputation if there are unqualified technicians working there. ASE-certified technicians prove their technical competence to themselves, to their employers and to their customers. The fact that ASE certification is voluntary for the most part further eliminates slackers as only those who are self motivated seek out the certification.

Twice a year in May and November ASE tests over 100,000 technicians around the country. To become ASE certified one must pass at least one exam and have verified work experience of at least two years. The tests, developed by industry experts with oversight from ASE’s in-house pros, are administered by ACT, the same group known for its college entrance exams.
There are exams covering all major areas of auto repair. There are eight tests for auto technicians alone: engine repair, engine performance, electrical/electronic systems, brakes, heating and air conditioning, suspension and steering, manual drive train and axles, and automatic transmissions. (There are also exams for collision repair technicians, damage estimators, parts specialists and others.)

Another reason ASE certification requires dedication is because one must re-test every five years to maintain their certification which again weeds out the lazy and uninitiated.

In the ordinary way, recipes for wines made entirely from grapes are not a practicable proposition. This is because grapes are merely crushed and fermented without either sugar or water being added. Provided you have enough grapes, making wines from them is the simplest winemaking of all-that is, of course, provided they are fully ripe. Small unpruned bunches often contain a lot of small undeveloped fruits between the large juicy ones and these must be removed before the bunches are crushed. The whole bunches, stalk as well, are used as these add something to the wine. The yeast forming the bloom on your grapes may be the kind that will make excellent wine, but we cannot be sure of this owing to the near-certainty that wild yeast and bacteria are present with it. As we have seen in previous chapters, we must destroy these yeasts and bacteria and add yeasts of our choice to make the wine for us.

You will need at least twenty pounds of grapes to be assured of a gallon of wine-and this amount may not make one gallon of wine, though it make one gallon of strained ‘must’. Therefore the more grapes you have the better.

If enough grapes are available, the process is as follows:

METHOD: Put all grapes in a suitable vessel and crush them, making sure each grape is crushed. Measure as near as you can or judge as accurately as possible the amount of pulp you have and to each gallon allow one Campden tablet or four grains of sodium metabisulphite. Dissolve this in an egg cupful of warm water and stir into the pulp and leave for twenty-four hours.

After this, give the mixture a thorough mixing and churning and then add the yeast. The mixture should then be left to ferment for five days.

Following this, the pulp should be strained through a strong coarse cloth to prevent bursting and wrung out as dry as you can. The liquor should then be put into jars and fermented the same ways as other wines.

A good plan when doing this is to mix a quart of water with grape pulp and to crush this well to get as much from the skins as you can. If you do this, you must add one pound of sugar and dissolve it by warming the juice just enough for this purpose. This thinner juice may be mixed with the rest but before the better quality juice is put into jars.

Where grapes only are used with water (as suggested above) it must be borne in mind that to get enough alcohol for a stable wine we must have between two and two and a half pounds of sugar to the gallon. Juice crushed from grapes rarely contains this much, therefore it would be wise to add one pound when the fruit is crushed and before the juice is put into jars. If the wine turns out dry, it may be sweetened.

We may use a hydrometer to find the sugar content so that we know how much to add to give the amount of alcohol we need, but this is not for beginners without previous experiences in this sort of thing. The better plan is to follow my suggestions above, and if the wine is dry to sweeten it and then preserve it with Campden tablets or metabisulphite.

Since the color comes from the skins, if we want a red wine from black grapes we ferment the skins as directed earlier in this chapter. A white wine from black grapes is made by crushing the grapes and pressing out the juice and fermenting the juice only. The difference in the process already described is that instead of fermenting the skin for five days, the juice is pressed out after it has been allowed to soak for twenty-four hours.
If you happen to be making some of the fruit wine such as elderberry, plum, blackberry or damson, at the same time as making grape wine, it would be a good idea to put the strained fruit pulp which would otherwise be discarded into the ‘must’ of the other fruit and let it ferment there.

Are you brave enough to face the challenge of building an online business but quite afraid of the fact that it may fail miserably? Well, there will always be wins and losses once you decide to take the risk.

Starting up an online business based solely on the information fed on you is a decision with no firm foundation. Halfhearted attempts, likewise, are not enough to keep your online business going. Chances are, if you are just hoping for luck and thinking of cutting your losses and quit when the going is not favorable to you anymore, you are not cut out to pioneer your own online business. In building an online business, you must not allow even a small percent for failure.

Once you decide on building a viable online business in the internet, you may not invest too much money, but you have to invest plenty of time and effort.

First things first, identify the obstacles you might encounter along the course of building an online business so that you will know what to do about them.

1. Time – Time is involved in everything we do all throughout our lives. Most people complain of the lack of time as a great difficulty for their online business to make headway. According to experience, have too much things that are more important for them to pay more attention in their online business.

In terms of this difficulty, you have to understand that starting an online should involve some sacrifices, big or small. Just like the sacrifices you did when you were still in your 8 to 5 job, then you must also forgo of some activities and focus more attention on your online business.

The secret is proper time management. As you budget your money, you also need to budget your time.

2. Computer – there are many who failed in their online business and blamed it all in their computer. That is absurd, blaming weaknesses and failures on a machine, you know. You must always be aware that your computer is the primary tool necessary for you to build your online business. Any success you derive, you have to be thankful of having good equipment. But not necessarily to the point of blaming it if you fail.

You just need to more comfortable and open-minded when using a computer. If you really feel the need for formal training, then enroll immediately.

3. HTML – HTML is the language in website building. You need to have a web site base on which to conduct your online business. This language may seem alien or Greek to you, but you need not become a technological genius or an outstanding web programmer just to understand its basics.

There are many tutorials available for you to learn HTML. You will also learn eventually from practice.

4. Technical Stuff – This may really be an obstacle if you feel that in your online business, you will be dealing with highly technologically. Nevertheless, do not get overwhelmed, you can learn many things especially once you anticipate learning.

5. Money – Contrary to what some people may think, starting out an online business is not very costly and expensive. At most, you will only spend on the electric bills, computer repairs or new software, internet access and web hosting.

If ever this happens to become an obstacle for you, there are small business loans to avail of. You can also get an amount from your previous work savings and replace them once your online business starts producing income already.

6. Lack of Support – As much as possible, explains extensively the activities you are doing to your family and friends. Assure them that you are not going to be a victim of fraud.

Remember, once you decide on a reputable online business, do not let circumstances overwhelm you and forget succeeding altogether. You have to make a conscious effort to prevent from failing and getting disappointed.
